Question:
Should I leave this off my Federal Background Check?

I got a federal job offer with an sf85 checklist which I believe generally indicates low to moderate security clearance. However, last week I found out that one of my internship companies was bought out and my contacts no longer work there. Should I still put this job even though it was a voluntary unpaid internship and they can't check my reference since she was laid off? I only ask because I put it on the initial job application and I feel it looks fishy not to list it

NEVER omit ANYTHING on an SF86! The fact that a contact no longer works there is irrelevant. Somebody there probably knows that you worked there.

It's far better to list something that isn't technically needed than to omit something that should have been included in the first place.

Put it in. The company will still have a record of you working there. Who your contacts were is irrelevant.

Uh....you're applying for a federal government security clearance and you're wondering if you should be truthful and complete on your application?
